Vanderlei Lopes was born in Terra Boa, Paraná, in 1973 and currently lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. He graduated in Fine Arts from Instituto de Artes at Universidade Estadual Paulista (IA-UNESP). Vanderlei's plastic research is based on sculpture and drawing, always seeking to work at the limits of materials, media, meanings, and concepts. After experimenting with performance, photography, and video, he found his way back to drawing and sculpture, revealing his work an extended purpose. Now, he has incorporated ideas and questions relating to new meanings of artistic expression.
