Polina is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the threads between the past future, the temporal and the timeless, creating portals into them from the present. The artist creates ironic objects, sculptures and wearable sculptures that subsequently become part of her artistic cosmos, captured in photos and videos. Polina’s preferred mediums include textiles and archival photographs. As an indigenous artist, Polina taps into and reflects upon her female ancestors’ experiences, using hand-woven textiles to establish a sense of deep connection to the past generations. In her works, Polina deliberately fuses together often contrasting materials - pearls and motherboards, machinery and lace, anatomical hearts and metals to achieve the aim of disrupting visual socio-cultural narratives.
