"Painting is essential to my life. The musical watercolor language expresses what I want to convey best. I mainly draw inspiration from nature, where open sea meets land or where light plays between sparse tree trunks. Landscapes that can be found in the face of an animal or a person also challenge me. In the pictures, I process my impressions of nature and let the emotions flow over the landscape. I work searching with pigments and a lot of water, feeling in my body when my image is captured. The changing light and subtle moods fascinate me. I like to paint in the large format, where I control the pigments with broad brushes and a lot of water, but love to be surprised by the watercolor's ability to take on a life of its own.
