Pokras Lampas is the pseudonym of Russian artist Arseny Pyzhenkov. Born in Moscow in 1991, Lampas has already become a star in modern calligraphy. He paints various surfaces with Cyrillic calligraphy, from facades and roofs of historic buildings to t-shirts and denim vests. Lampas works in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Cyrillic or Azbuca is an alphabetic script. This script was created in the 1st Bulgarian Empire during the 10th century at the Preslav school of literature, due to Boris I of Bulgaria, who wanted the Bulgarians to have their own writing system. This line is the basis of alphabets used in various languages, especially those of Slavic origin, and non-Slavic languages influenced by Russian, both past and present. Lempas has not received special training in the field of calligraphy, but he has a history of working with prestigious and famous companies in the world, including: Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, adidas, Fendi, Levi and Lamborghini. He has also worked extensively in the fashion industry, and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Western galleries.
