Stefan Despodov was born in October 1950 in Kyustendale, Bulgaria. In 1974, he graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia in the field of poster design. He worked in the field of cartoons, illustrations, paintings and posters. He works as a poster designer at the "Ivan Vazov" National Theater in Sofia. Stefan Despodov is also the writer and director of three animated films. He released his three cartoon albums titled Nissage a la parole. He has participated in several international exhibitions around the world and has received more than 50 prestigious awards, including: The grand prize of the 47th International Black Humor Festival in Bucharest in 1998. Porto International Award 1999, Karluk and Poltava restivar award in 2003 and many other awards. He held 15 solo exhibitions. His artworks have been published in famous magazines in many countries (Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey, Italy), Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Cuba). Stefan Despodov lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria.
