Ali Warren (born in 1975 in Redwood City, California) is a painter who lives in Lake Tahoe, California. Her realistic and emotional figures are depicted with loose and meandering brush strokes, demonstrating technical drawing proficiency and purposeful distortion. Her paintings convey a sense of estrangement and loneliness, reflecting a psychological disorientation brought about by her intricate compositions. Her exploration of skin tones and textures pays homage to painters from the neo-figurative movement. Reminiscent of 15th-century Flemish painters, she situates her figures within their everyday environments while embodying the diligence of modern America in her technique.
