Alan Gerard Fletcher was an English graphic designer who was born in Kenya and immigrated to England with his parents as a child. He is known as one of the most reliable and active designers of his time. He studied at the Royal College of Art and Yale University One of Fletcher's most important designs is the design of the Reuters news agency logo, which was done in 1965. This sign is inspired by teletype machines, dot matrix printers, and telegraphs, and its purpose was to represent the company's business theme, which is a news agency in the age of telecommunications. He used 84 points for this sign. Reuters news agency changed this sign in 1996 and has changed its brand and sign three times since then, although it still retains the points used by the original designer. The current logo of Reuters was designed by Interbrand in 2008, where all the dots are in the form of a circle.
