Every year, the Grote Prijs Knokke-Heist Gouden Hoed is organized as part of the International Cartoon Festival . Knokke-Heist is hosting the international cartoonists for the 61st time, making the Gouden Hoed the oldest cartoon competition in the world. After all these years, the competition is still very popular, because more than 491 cartoonists from more than 95 countries took part in De Grote Prijs Knokke-Heist. A total of 2455 cartoons were submitted.
The 10 nominees for the Grand Prix Knokke-Heist Gouden Hoed have been announced. A six-member jury of experts , led by TV figure Chris Dusauchoit, selected 10 cartoonists for a chance to win a cash prize of EUR 5000 and eternal cartoon fame. The chairman received professional support from cartoonist Steven Degryse (Lectrr), Prudence Geerts (Planet Prudence), Kamal Kharmach (stand-up comedian), Bruno Wyndaele (presenter) and Toon Horsten (Standaard Uitgeverij).
