Habibollah Sadeghi is a designer, painter, graphic artist, cartoonist, critic. He has taught in many art universities. In 2004, he was elected as the head of the Museum of Contemporary Arts, and despite many problems in the cultural system of the country, the Museum of Contemporary Arts of Tehran experienced one of the golden periods in its history.
His main concern is the nature of national and Iranian art and he has dealt with these issues a lot. Poetry is very important in his paintings because he is very interested in poetry and different poets. This artist has used the language of metaphor in many of his works.
One of the most famous works of this artist, entitled "Learned without action", which was created in the first half of the sixties, shows his gaze towards artists who do not even appreciate their actions.
In this work, we see a violinist who puts corks in his ears, and plays a song that is more welcoming to the undisclosed, whose ears can only be seen behind the wall, and who are the faceless listeners of this kind of music and art.
Habib Sadeghi uses humor in this work. Although he entered the field of cartoon caricature from the very beginning of the revolution, and with his works in the visual center of the IRGC headquarters and at the same time in the information institute, he created many humorous and effective designs in accordance with the events of the day. But this work, which takes place in the space of painting, speaks of the ability of this artist in using paint and oil techniques, as well as the symbolic use of color.
This painting, which is in the treasure of the art field, is one of the few works that has a serious critical view of art issues in the sixties, when the country was seriously involved in an imposed war.
Shahid Avini had a special lookat the works of this artist. The painting "Learned without action" is considered one of the best works of Habibullah Sadeghi in this decade.
