Robert Capa was born Endre Friedmann in 1913. Growing up in Budapest, he realized that the war-torn Hungary offered no future. He left home at the age of 18. He went on to establish himself as one of the most famous photojournalists and war photographers of the 20th century. He photographed the Spanish Civil War and most of World War II in Italy, culminating in the historic battle at Omaha on D-Day.
